Do not rub stains, bloat them
Rubbing stain makes particles to get into the carpet fibres. As a result, it can lead to premature breakdown of fibres. Instead, dab stains with a cleaning solution and a clean a paper towel, sponge or a clean cloth. Blotting puts pressure on the stain soaking it up. When blotting, avoid bloating outwards as it can spread the stain.
Club soda process
When used correctly, club soda is effective against wine and beer stains. When it fails to work effectively, mix one part water with one part white vinegar and pour it into a handheld spray. Spray the stained area and let it soak for approximately 20 minutes. Press a clean sponge or cloth on the area to soak the solution and the stain. Repeat a few times to remove the stain fully.
Rinse the spot with warm water after eradicating the stain. Lay a clean towel over the spot and weigh it down. The towel absorbs the dampness. Leave it until the carpet is dry.
Clean pet accidents organically
Regardless of how well trained a pet is, it is bound to have an accident on the carpet. It is advisable to use organic cleaners instead of chemicals. Spray the cleaner and scrub gently the wipe the cleaner with a clean towel or cloth. Organic cleaners can be used to remove sauce and coffee stains.
Wax can drip on the carpet when you burn candles in the house. The wax dries quickly and gets embedded. Heat the wax again. Place a white cloth on the spot and iron. The iron warms up the wax which you can then scrape off with a butter knife. After, lay a paper towel on the spot and iron the paper. The wax melts and binds on the paper. Do not use the iron for prolonged periods as you risk burning the carpet.
Use shaving cream
Shaving cream can remove general stains on carpets. Apply the cream on the stain and let it set for half an hour. After setting, blot the cream with a dry white cloth. Spray the area with one part water mixed with one part water and wipe away the solution.
Deep clean regularly
Deep clean your carpet once in a while. The water penetrates carpet fibres and loosens any embedded soil making your carpet clean and fresh. You can deep clean your carpet twice in a year.
Maintaining cleanliness gives your carpet a long life. The above tips will help you keep your carpet looking new and fresh.
